Rome: the final destination

So it’s a good job that I did put cushions down. I woke up about 6ish and Scarlett was laid fast asleep on the floor, on the cushions. I’m not sure IF she did fall out of bed. Or whether she tried to get out but was sleepy and just laid down lol but either way, I didn’t want to leave her there so I put her back in her bed and she then didn’t wake up until 8ish. I gave her a bottle then got her dressed so we could go down and get some breakfast. I asked Brett if he wanted to go but he said No. we went down and had some toast and OJ. We headed back up to pack the few bits we’d unpacked and then check out.

We checked out at 10:30 and started our long journey back to the train station. We asked at the station what the best way to get to the airport would be and they said bus. So we paid for a bus, at the bus station next to the station and at 11:25am we set off. We arrived at the airport just before 12. Our flight wasn’t until 4:20pm and the info for it wasn’t displayed so we decided to grab some lunch. So we found a restaurant and had some food. Scarlett fell asleep so we sat there for ages just chatting and shit. At 2:15 the display boards showed what check-in desk we needed to go to so we set off. We waited in the queue for what seemed an eternity. We finally got to the front and got our luggage checked-in. Then our boarding passes and off we headed to passport control and our gate. We went through. Brett took Scarlett to change her nappy whilst I grabbed some water for us. We got in the queue for the flight. We had to go on a shuttle bus to the plane. We finally got on the aeroplane at 4:10pm and then we took off.

Scarlett is such a brilliant traveller. I could not be more proud of her. She’s done so brilliantly. She’s been on 2 aeroplanes, 2 trains and 1 bus. Plus a few taxis. She’s just awesome.

We touched down in Rome at 5:25pm and then we picked up our luggage. We arrived at Fiuicimo terminal 1 and had to walk across from there to the train station. We booked a ticket, had a quick wee and at 6:23pm we embarked towards Roma termini. Scarlett had a bottle as she was whinging for one. We walked from the station to our hotel. We got there at 7:25pm. Finally got checked in and settled by 8pm. Brett had a shower then we headed out for dinner.

Brett had pizza and he shared with Scarlett. I had tomato and basil spaghetti. It was delish but so filling. We left and stopped at a supermarket for some bath stuff as we had run out. We got back to our apartment quite late. Scarlett and I had a shower together again and then Brett dressed her whilst I washed my hair off then I put her to bed. She took ages to go to sleep. Was almost midnight before she could be counted as “being asleep”.

Brett and I were going to watch a film in bed on the iPad but it’s too late. We need to get some kip lol

Heading into Rome tomorrow for the day. We aim to see the Trevi fountain, colosseum and a few other sights!

Day 2 in Verona

Scarlett woke up at 7:30am. I gave her a bottle and changed her nappy then put her back to sleep at 8am. I wasn't sure she'd go back down but she did and she didn't wake until almost 10am. I did her some breakfast then I gave her a quick bath (yoghurt was EVERYWHERE) then we got ready to go out for the day.

We walked from our apartment in Piazza Pozza to Castelvecchio to walk over the bridge and looked at the views. We found a cafe as we were thirsty so we had a drink then we carried on walking towards to piazza brà.

We decided to stop for lunch as it was about 1pm now. So we found a charming (but busy) restaurant on the main road opposite Verona arena. I had a German hotdog and curly fries and Brett had a burger with fries. Scarlett had a toastie but tried to help herself to my hotdog lol it rained whilst we ate but we were underneath a massive canopy so we were fine lol

After we ate I grabbed some more euros from the ATM and we headed towards the shopping streets. My aim was to see Casa di Guilietta (Juliet's house) which was nearby. So we walked. It was so busy. You could tell it was a tourist attraction. It was exactly how I remember it being when I watched Letters to Juliet. I'm glad I can tick it off my list of places. It started to pour down with rain again. So we sought shelter underneath a shop canopy on our walk back to the centre. Scarlett had fell asleep so we didn't mind just sitting on a step watching people go by. When the rain had let up a little we carried on walking. We had a wander through the trees in the middle of the Piazza. There was a fountain and some statues. Scarlett stayed asleep until we had gotten almost back to the apartment. She woke up but was still tired. I left her for a bit to play but she kept jumping around (knowing that if she sat still she'd nod off) and in the end I succumbed to giving her a bottle and putting her in bed. She napped for 2 hours and didn't wake until 7:30pm. Brett had gone to sleep as well so I tried waking him, saying we needed to go for dinner. He was really grumpy and told me to fuck off. I assumed his head was bad still so I picked up the keys, sorted Scarlett out and was planning to take her to dinner by myself. He got up properly and got the right hump. Saying I was leaving him behind. Ignoring the fact he was a complete ass to me for half hour beforehand. But yeah I'm the one who is wrong lol he said he needed a shower etc so "fuck off and go without me". But ignoring my hunger I stayed till he was ready. Which wasn't fair on Scarlett tbh because it was 9 before we left.

We found a brilliant restaurant in the main part of Piazza Pozza. I had sage and butter tortellini. Brett had a margarita pizza and Scarlett just shared everything lol we tipped them because the staff were very interactive with Scarlett. She kept waving and saying Hiya to everyone lol

We got back to our apartment at 10:30. Scarlett had a quick bath then she played with Brett whilst I showered quick. Then once I was dressed I put her to bed.

We are just watching a film called Next. It's weird but good.

We are leaving Verona tomorrow for Venice. We are getting a train from Verona to Venice. It should be fun. I've enjoyed my stay in this apartment however it's not very child-friendly. Knives were at knee height. Meaning, baby height lol but we've had a good stay and our host was a godsend with her recommendations on things and routes to get there.

Bank holiday weekend FTW

Monday 24th:

Wasn’t as bad a day as I expected. I mean, yeah, I was totally not mentally prepared to go back to work after 10 days off. But I did. And I lived. And so did everyone else. So a win!

Mom and I are fine. We just left it as a middle of the night tiff.

Tuesday 25th:

My brother came to visit today so my mom picked me up for lunch. We had a little lunch date (and a catch up). Scarlett came too. Was good getting out the office. Much needed fresh air and convo!

Wednesday 26th:

I had lunch with my work team. We went to a pub down the road. I had a steak and cheese wrap. It was delicious. It came with fries and a drink for £8. That’s really old IMO. I saw the trailer for Kingsman 2. It looked brilliant so I’ll definitely be going to see that.

Thursday 27th:

Had my 1-to-1 monthly meeting at work. Nothing special. Just chatting and filling out a form. I ordered some bits from GAP for Scarlett for our holiday to Italy. It’ll be warm when we go so she needed some new dresses. Most of her dresses don’t fit her now. They’re 9-12 months some of them, and she’s grown in height so they’re like t-shirts now lol

I tidied up when Scarlett was in bed. Hoovered then washed up. Did 2 loads of washing. Made myself a snack. Took sausages out of the freezer for breakfast Friday and then got in to bed.

Friday 28th:

I had a super busy day. I had this task to do. It was massive and took me all day, and I’m not even finished yet. Will finish it Tuesday, hopefully! Mom met me for lunch. We grabbed food then I picked up Scarlett’s new Clarks shoes. I got her the pink version of the white ones she already has.

Someone told me I looked pregnant. So I guess I’ll have to start dieting if it’s got to that point lol tbf I know I’ve put on about 10 lbs in the last 7 months. Ever since I went back to work. That can’t be a coincidence surely!

Tonight Scarlett had a bath and went to bed by 7ish. Mom and I watched emmerdale then when her boyfriend arrived, we had dinner. They watched some tele downstairs. I came up to watch Riverdale in bed. I’m knackered. It’s been a long week so I may go to sleep soon.

We are going to Godstone Farm tomorrow. It looks really fun. There’s a lot of stuff designed for her age and now she’s walking it’ll be so much better for her to explore. I’m excited lol can you tell?

Sunday blues

Friday 7th:

Brett came down tonight. He got to mine at midnight-ish. We were fine but he got the hump when I mentioned my plans to take Scarlett to Italy. He was really upset I had “considered” him. He said that if we are suppose to be a family then why wouldn’t I want him to go. I tried to explain to him that we aren’t the traditional type family. We don’t live together. We don’t even parent her equally. I do 85%, he does a small part when he IS here. So yeah he didn’t take it great. It wasn’t even that I didn’t want him to come. It was more “I just wanted to take her on a trip I had planned long before I had fell pregnant and had sacrificed it for her”.

Saturday 8th:

He still wasn’t happy when he got up and I thought he was going to go home. But we worked it out. We let Scarlett nap then we took her into town. He walked around with her. occasionally she would hold his hand. Cute! We had lunch then we went back home. She had dinner and then he did bath time and put her to bed then we watched a film. We watched Nerve.

Sunday 9th:

We went to bed quite late Saturday as we watched another film in bed and then went to bed. Getting up was rough but I put Scarlett back down for a nap after bottle and breakfast so that was good. Again we went into town. We had lunch and then did some shopping before heading home. We put Scarlett down for an afternoon nap and watched the finale episode of 13 Reasons Why. That show has changed me. It was so intense and eye opening. I mean, I am fully aware of how bullying goes in school having been on the receiving end, in the same kind of ways that Hannah was. Which just reinforced the fact that it could have easily been me who did what she did. Scary thought! I just hope I can raise Scarlett to feel like she can always talk to me and Brett [no matter what], and if not us then another family member if she is having a hard time. I would not wish her to suffer in silence.

Brett went home at about 8ish. He did bath time before he went. She loves when he baths her. I put her down after he went and then mom and I watched Vera.

Work tomorrow but it is only a 4 day week as it is Easter, so Friday is Good Friday. I am off next week so I effectively have 10 days off. Yes!

25 today!

It’s my birthday. It’s my birthday. It’s my birthday. It’s my birthday. It’s my fucking birthday!!!!!!!

So yeah I’m 25 haha I gave Scarlett the birthday card she got me, so she could “give it” to me. Gosh she’s so adorable I could squish her!

We got up, I fed her some bottle. She plays with it lol so we got dressed and we left for the train. We literally made the train with 30 seconds to spare!

35 minutes later and we were in Waterloo station and speed walking to meet Nicola and Matilda. We met and decided to walk to one of the restaurants on the road leading to the London Eye. So we grabbed a drink in All Bar One whilst Matilda had her bottle. I had a good long hold of her and she decided to vom on my shirt lol I was like thanks for that missy. After a nappy change we made our way over to the London Eye. After faffing in the queue, and me realising I had to queue elsewhere to pick up my ticket as I had inadvertently not selected “e-ticket”, we finally got in one of the pods. The babies were absolutely brilliant. We could not fault them at all. We took lots of pictures, let them sit and stand etc before we finally departed to find some food.

We walked back to the place we were before but ended up next door in the Slug & Lettuce. The girls were napping so we ordered a drink and had a good old natter then we ordered some food. We both went for a chicken burger. It wasn’t half bad. It was chargrilled. The girls woke up when we were eating (fancy that). Scarlett had her bottle then I finished eating and got her out. We took some more pictures then at 3:45 we decided to make a move towards the station as neither of us fancied travelling in rush hour (5-7pm). We walked to the station and I walked them both to the lift down to the underground. Scarlett was asleep by then but Matilda was awake so I said goodbye then I hugged Nicola and off she went.

Our train was scheduled for 4:49pm and it was 4:20pm by then so I found the platform and got on the train as it was waiting there already. I got a seat this time as I ran and sat in the disabled carriage (more room). We got off the train the other end at 5:15pm, jumped on a bus at 5:45 and were home just after 6pm. Scarlett was knackered but she was super excited to see her nanny and uncle Jordy.

She had some of her last feed then she had a bath. We shared. Then mom got her out and dressed her whilst I washed my hair. She drank the rest of her bottle and was in bed asleep by 9pm. She’s such a good little human!!!

We had a fab day. I am so thankful to Nicola for coming with me because she’s scared of friggin heights (and for those that don’t know, the London Eye is sky high). So it must be love for her to do that lol #TrueLoveWins #BestiesFo’LifeMotherfucker ;)

I am 25. I have a beautiful daughter, a sexy man (who I wouldn’t change even when he’s being an ass) and a lovely family (mostly). What more could I want? Alcohol, that’s what I  want. So glad I’m having a party on Saturday. Love a reason to get dressed up and natter with peeps I haven’t seen in a long time. Looking forward to it. Plus I can show off both my daughter (not everyone has met her) and my boyfriend (being single for 4 years previous made me realise I missed having someone to share things with, I’m so glad I met Brett).

I’m in bed trying to watch the new Batman V Superman movie but I just can’t seem to get in to it! Oh dear!

21 weeks

I forgot to say on Sunday that I ordered Scarlett a Sophie the Giraffe. It came Sunday afternoon. She’s not overly bothered by it but she will chew it if I give it to her, which is the whole point.

Monday Scarlett was 21 weeks old. It’s crazy to think that 21 weeks ago I had just had her and now she’s this moving, chatty little thing.

Monday we did go in to town in the end. I got a few random bits including a lovely red spotty dress for Scarlett. As you can see below she doesn’t mind her Sophie.

Tuesday we visited our Nana’s house and I had dinner there. Scarlett wore her new GAP romper that my dad and step-mom brought her from Portsmouth at the beginning of the month.

Wednesday (yesterday) she tried out her walker for the first time. I bought it Sunday online. It was only £25 and it has two options. Wheels or static. It’s currently static as she’s too little to be wheeling it around my house lol

That isn’t what you are meant to do

Today is the day to vote on whether Britain should leave the EU. It’s the referendum. I’m voting. I’m voting to leave. But in my own personal opinion I’m not convinced it matters too much who votes for what because parliament still have the deciding say as they vote anyway so even if Leave win the voting today, we may not even leave. Plus it takes like 2 years to come into affect. You can’t just up and leave the EU in one day lol

I went to vote at 5pm on my way home from my nan’s house and was told the polling station I went to wasn’t the one that does my road. It use to be. Didn’t realise it had changed. So at 8:30pm mom took me in the car to the right one so we both could vote.

Tomorrow I’m getting little bub weighed. She was 11 lb 2 oz when she was weighed 4 weeks ago. I reckon she’ll be 12lb exactly but we’ll see. Maybe all the food she’s had has helped her gain slightly more. I’m not worried if it hasn’t. She’s doing fine as she is. Her legs a definitely chunkier now.

She is 5 months on Saturday. Where does the time go!!!
