Amelia’s last day

Monday wasn’t too bad and work this week has been alright. We’ve been busy on and off. I had lots of emails when I came in but surprisingly they weren’t things I had to follow up. They were emails I got included in but weren’t destined for me.

Tuesday I watched Doctor Foster. I can’t wait for the finale next week. Scarlett wore another new pair of pyjamas. She wore Batman one Monday. Today they were Superman [Superbaby).

Wednesday Scarlett’s Childs Farm bath stuff and hair stuff arrived in the mail. It’s so good for her eczema skin.

Thursday was long. I was so tired as I didn’t sleep very well Wednesday night. I’ve been catching a new show this week called Private Eyes. It’s quite good. I am just starting season 2 now. Our new virgin box was delivered this week. My mom set it up and it’s so good. It’s so quick and you can record and watch more shows than ever. Also the playback is much quicker than before. Our old box was 5 years old and it died when we were on holiday. Scarlett woke different batman pyjamas tonight as her ones from yesterday were wet in the morning, leaky nappy.

FriYAY!!! Today is Amelia’s last day in our team. The traitor is leaving to work in a different department, HR. Fair play to her for getting out, doing something new [and getting a better salary]. I am pleased for her and a little bit jealous lol we are going for a team lunch now. As it’s our last time.

Brett is coming down tonight. We were going on a date night tomorrow. Dinner and a movie. I can’t wait. We are watching Kingsmen 2.

20 months today

My girl is 20 months old today. Whilst we were away she celebrated her 1 year of Nursery. She speaks much more each day. Her favourite thing at the moment is her “fake sneeze”. She also laughs her head off when you do a real sneeze. Her hair has grown so we’ve been putting it in pigtails since we got back from Italy. She has been really good with not taking it out.

She has about 13/14 teeth, with her back ones giving her major pain at the moment, turning her into a grumpy. She has almost finished her swimming lessons. She quite enjoys them so I think I will definitely booking her in for level 2 in the spring.

She is such a happy girl but so stubborn and cheeky. I love that her morning routine consists of “Hiya mama”, when I go in to scoop her up out of her cot.

She still loves her “baby” [her doll] and has started carrying it so gently, rubbing its head and putting her hand under its bum, patting its back. It is adorable. Maybe she will make a good big sister once day. Maybe.

A quiet weekend

Friday we stopped for a bite to eat on the way home as we had stopped not too far away at Tesco to stock up on some bare essentials. I also got Scarlett 6 pairs of pyjamas as her old ones are too short for her now, finally. We had some food and then we headed home. Scarlett went to bed at usual time. She was shattered after our long week away.

Saturday she didn’t wake until 9am. What a lovely lay-in. She got up, had a bottle, we watched some teletubbies and then she had breakfast. She was tired still so I put her back to bed at 10:30am. I had to wake her for swimming. We were late and then I discovered I had left my swimsuit at home. I told the swim teacher my predicament and explained that I was sorry but Scarlett would have to miss it this week. She said that if I didn’t mind, she would take her and swim with her. She said as we were down to half the class [usually there is 4 of us but today there was only 2 including Scarlett]. So Scarlett did her lesson with the teacher. After swimming we went home for lunch. She had her lunch then she went back down for a nap. She was still asleep at 3:45 when I left to go to the cinema. I had a hot dog and a slushie. I don’t usually have food but I was hungry. I watched the new “IT” movie. It wasn’t scary but very creepy. It was only down as a 15 so there was a bunch of “teenagers” in there and every time you saw his hand or reflection or something equally as non-scary you’d hear squeals. Like seriously? I enjoyed the movie and I think Bill Skarsgard did the role brilliantly. I know Tim Currie did the original Pennywise but you cannot compare the two. Bill brought something different to the character. It seems they are splitting the book between 2 movies instead of condensing it in to 1 movie, like the first movie was done. So I look forward to IT chapter 2. After the cinema I got the bus back to home. Scarlett was in bed but still awake. I popped up and said Hi to her and goodnight. She was so pleased to see me. She had a quick chat on FaceTime with Brett then I put her to bed properly.

Mom and I toasted her completion of her NVQ level 3 in Care. She started it when I was pregnant but so much personal stuff had come up and she had put it on the back burner. I am so proud of her because this year she worked her ass off to complete it. And it wasn’t easy as some of the physical attributes to the NVQ required my mom to be shadowed by her NVQ assessor, at work, doing stuff. But my mom’s work life has been really disruptive this year as she was made redundant and changed jobs twice since for various reasons. And she was in hospital last month. But she did it. So we toasted with some Martini Asti.

Sunday Scarlett woke up at 8ish. She had a bottle then some breakfast. We started watching Hotel Transylvania 2 together but she ditched me for a nap. That’s fine, I watched it by myself. I love that movie. She woke up at 1:30pm. I dressed her then mom and I took her to the park. We all needed the fresh air. We played for a bit but there was too many boisterous asshole kids pushing past her, and she banged her cheek. So we left the play area and wandered on the open field. I had brought her bubbles so she chased them lol we went home after and watched Shrek 4. Mom cooked some dinner at 5:30. Scarlett was bathed at 6 and in bed by 6:45. She had been whinging to go to bed since 4 lol it took a lot of energy to keep her up as long as I did.

Mom and I watched some tele. I tidied up the toys in the front room then I got in the shower. After I finished I came down to watch Victoria. I love it. Now it is finished I am in bed.

I am back at work tomorrow. I wonder what that will bring. I bet I have a bunch of emails and shit has changed. I have anxiety just thinking about it. But it feeds my kid. I forgot to say, I got a letter whilst away from my company saying I was getting a salary increased effective from this month. I have gained about £1300 a year. Not bad.

Goodbye Notgrove

Tuesday mom had to get he AA out to the car as the screw we noticed the day before, had caused the tyre to deflate overnight. The AA guy said he’d repair it enough for us to drive to the garage in the next village. So that’s what we did. We went to Bourton-on-the-water and the garage were really good. They fitted us in within 20 minutes and we just stuck the bill on my credit card. Once we finished we then headed to Cotswold Farm Park. We spend the afternoon there. We headed back to the pod as it was close by. We let Scarlett nap and then at 5ish we headed back to Cheltenham for dinner. We settled on pizza express. Scarlett ate quite a lot and she had a chocolate brownie for dessert (no cream, obviously).

Wednesday we settled on Sudeley castle. We were up and out by 10am. It was nice grounds and the castle was beautiful but so old. There was Tudor history which surprised me. I love Henry VIII so I was pleasantly surprised. I knew Katherine Parr’s tomb was in the church on the castle site but never expected to read stuff about Henry and they had extra information for his other wives too. We had a cup of tea in the castle cafe then we headed off. We had planned to do birdland after lunch but Scarlett was so grotty with teething we gave it a miss and went back to the pod so she could nap. When she was up we headed to Cheltenham for dinner. We went to the Wetherspoons this time. We all had hotdogs and then pudding.

Thursday, our last full day. We decided we didn’t fancy walking around in the rain at birdland so we went to Cheltenham for a wander around the shops. We had lunch. Then we went back to the pod. Scarlett had a nap then we decided what to have for dinner. We decided on harvester again as we had such a good meal on Monday. So we did that. We had dessert after. Once we ate we left to go to the pod. We packed whilst we had the tele on. The pod had a smartTV so what we were doing was watching everything on playback such as the itv player or bbc player. We watched emmerdale and coronation street. I spent over an hour convincing Scarlett to go to sleep. She just fights it lol eventually she gave in and I laid next to her. I fell asleep quite early I think.

Friday (today) we got up early. Packed everything in the car. Mom had a shower. Scarlett had a sink bath then I got her dressed. We had planned to grab breakfast out then go to Birdland. So that’s what we did. We had a McDonald’s breakfast then headed to Birdland. It was dry and out of the shade it was warm. We stayed for nearly 3 hours as there was lots to see and went through the Jurassic journey trail. Scarlett got tired and put herself back in the stroller towards the end. We stopped in the cafe for a cup of tea then we set off. We are currently travelling home. Can’t wait to sleep in my own bed. I love Scarlett but I don’t like co-sleeping with a toddler. She’s like a wriggling worm. She prefers sleeping alone too, that’s why she played up at bedtime every night. But it is what it is.

Glamping

Friday was 7 years since my Nan’s sister passed away.

Saturday we got up and went for breakfast at Whetherspoons then Scarlett had a swimming lesson. After my Dad picked us up and drove us to his house for the afternoon. He lives an hour away. We went for dinner and it was good to catch up. It was a flying visit as I couldn’t stay too late because of Scarlett. He drove us home at 7:30 and I got her in bed for 8:30. I finished watching season 2 of Bitten, in bed.

Sunday we went for dinner at the new pub near Morrisons called the Sarsen Stone. My meal was alright but I’ve had better. I finally packed for our holiday once scarlett had gone to bed. I hate leaving it so late. It makes me feel unprepared.

Monday (today) we got up and went for breakfast at Morrisons cafe. When we’d eaten we grabbed some last minute bits to take with us then we headed home so Scarlett could have a nap before we headed off. We loaded the car and we set off at 12:45. We stopped at services after 30 minutes so mom would wee and so I could sit in the back instead of the front. Ideally I wouldn’t sit in the back as it makes my motion sickness worse but Scarlett was being so grumpy and kept kicking the iPad holder so it was easier to sit next to her.

We arrived at 2:45 and luckily were able to go straight into the pod. Unfortunately for wifi didn’t appear to be working and we had no phone signals so we couldn’t even text to say we’d arrived etc. I managed to catch some 3G enough to send the holiday people an email. About 45 minutes later a guy turned up to look at it. He ended up replacing the wifi router with a different one and that worked just fine. We had wanted to google what pubs were nearby for dinner so we quickly did that. We set off at 5pm for the harvester in Cheltenham. We had a really good meal. We all had Buttermilk fried chicken. Scarlett ate so much and when we got back I expected her to go straight to sleep after her bath. Especially as she hadn’t slept since her morning nap. She was shattered. But no she wouldn’t. We both tried on and off between 8:30 and 10:30 when she finally crashed. We’re hoping it was just because was overexcited and overtired. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

We haven’t decided what we are doing tomorrow as we have a few things we want to but it’ll all depend on the weather.

I’m co-sleeping with Scarlett. We haven’t done that in a long time.

We had some sad news at work today. I’m on annual leave so officially I don’t know. But my work girls sent me a screenshot of our email. One of our engineers has passed away. I use to be his scheduler when I was a scheduler before I went on maternity. I actually know him. It’s sad to hear he’s no longer with us and has taken me by some surprise. I knew he’d been unwell in the last year or two. But didn’t expect this.

Hurricane Irma

I try not to discuss too much in detail about my friends. Privacy is paramount for a lot of people. However I would just like to say that my friend Rachel, a work colleague until recently, was in Cuba on holiday when Hurricane Irma hit. Suffice it to say, her and her partner had a very tough ride. They were evacuated from their original hotel, travelling 9 hours by coach. The new hotel they were at, the windows had to be boarded as the ferocious winds were going to bring them smashing inwards. Some even did as far as I know. They were holed up for days before managing to get a flight home. Well almost home. They flew into a different airport 3 hours away but thankfully arrived in one peace and are now back home, properly.

They are lucky they survived. Not everyone across the places it hit survived. It must’ve been so scary for them. The people they booked through, Thompson I think, were useless and they’re going to file a complaint. The only reason they were evacuated and got a flight home was down to the brilliant locals in the hotel etc.

I’m saddened by the aftermath of the Hurricane and wish I could do something to help. Being on the other side of the pond limits my power I guess.

Terrorised by a spider

Monday was alright. I was tired though. I always am. It’s a struggle going back to work after a weekend.

Tuesday we had people coming into our office to measure up. I mean how disrespectful. We are being moved (though this is unofficial and I’ve not had any type of forewarning) so these builder type guys have been in to check sizes as someone somewhere in my company want to knock down some walls and change shit around. At the moment my team sit in a little office, separate from the main office as we are in a different room (inside the main office) and we love it. I cannot work in the main office. I use to before maternity. And I struggled. It’s too noisy and distracting. My brain doesn’t work as quick as it use to and I won’t survive out there so as soon as we do get a confirmed date if movement, I shall hand my notice in. Simple as that.

Today I was shattered because Scarlett woke up really upset at 2am and again at 6am (though 6 isn’t as bad usually as my alarm is set for 6:30). I was falling asleep at my desk by 12. I should’ve utilised my lunch hour at 1pm and napped lol

We have another motherfucking spider trying to seek residence. They always do it when I’m alone. It’s like they can sense it. It just strolled across my living room floor like it owns the place. I tried to throw a heavy book at it but it darted out of sigh (worst thing ever). Then it came back and hid underneath one of Scarlett’s toys. I kept my eye on the toy whilst I watched tele, deciding to deal with it after. I went to move the toy so I could stamp on the spider (trying to be brace and shit) and the bastard had somehow snuck off when I wasn’t eyeing. So I scooped my crap up and legged it to bed. So here I am now, in bed, pretending I’m not a wuss. Nah jokes, I’m legit a wuss when it comes to spiders.

Only 2 more work days to go then we are on holiday lol can’t wait. I’ve never been Glamping.
